Say not ye, therefore are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? Behold, I say unto you , lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. John 4:35
This is not a natural harvest but a spiritual harvest. Jesus was passing through Samaria to Judea, he sent his disciples to buy food for him and whiles resting in wait, he met and shared the gospel with the “Samaritan woman”.
When they came, Jesus told them that his “food”; that is; his satisfaction and ambitions is to do God’s will and finish His work! The most important thing to Jesus wasn’t natural food, natural satisfaction or ambitions but to do God’s will and finish it - His work. Then He goes on to illustrate this “will and work” by the “harvest field”; “Lift up your eyes and see…” verse 35.
What was Jesus seeing when He lifted up his eyes? What were the disciples seeing? Matthew 13:38 says “the field is the world”. When you lift up your eyes, to look at Congo, U.S.A, China, do you see just better educations, greener pastures, black people, white people or do you see a harvest?! Jesus saw the harvest, you can see as Jesus see! What is your satisfaction?!
It is in you to make a difference, God put it there! Lets harvest the world for the Lord. At school, in your work place, traveling to another country, the world is the harvest field and we are laborers. Share the gospel today, or give to support the sending of missionaries and also pray for the lost. You can! And together, we can!
